History is not just dates and places. History is not just events and politics. History is the story of your parents, your grandparents, your neighbors, and your community members who were alive when history was being made. History is made up of their recollections, their feelings and their insight - their first hand experiences. If we, as a nation, lose sight of the history experienced by everyday Americans, we lose sight of who we are as a nation.
This is especially true of those men and women who were ready and willing to make the ultimate sacrifice to preserve our country and our freedom.
Operation Honor Bound is committed to the education of not only students, but whole communities, pertaining to Veteran service and military history. History comes alive when youth and adults are able to directly interface with the men and women who have served on the front lines of events that shaped the course of our nation. There is no better way to learn than to immerse yourself in history as told by the people who made it.
As Operation Honor Bound grows, it is our hope to bring Veterans and students together so youth can understand history from a first person perspective. While it may take some time and coordination, one of our many goals is to go into local classrooms and bring history to the students in our community.
If you are a teacher or a school district employee who is interesting in partnering with Operation Honor Bound, please contact us! We would be honored to help make history come alive for your students!
